You can contact the Kinross-shire public records office by phone at 01738 – 477012 or by email at archives@pkc.gov.uk. The office is open Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. They are closed on public on public holidays such as Christmas, New Year and Easter. You can search the archives on their online catalogue. You can find council records like City and Royal Burgh of Perth, small burghs, Perthshire and Kinross-shire counties, district councils, Tayside Region and Perth and Kinross district councils and other official collections. You can also find Community collections like estate papers, business and industry, Union, guilds and associations, people, community and family, religion and philanthropy, education, leisure and recreation and politics and the state. The public records office provides topics online such as Jacobites in Perthshire, Perth burgh burial registers from 1794 to 1855, Threiplands’ people, Perthsire people and Kinross-shire kin, World Wars I and II sources and Militia collection PE66 from 1680 to 1891.
The Kinross-shire public records office also has collection guides, like summary of holdings, family history sources, Keekin’ for kin and Kinross-shire collections, to help you find information faster. They also have the Atholl experience with contains documents like people of Atholl: John Crerar, 1750 to 1840; people of Atholl: Willie Duff, 1810 to 1882; Map-making in Atholl, the 18th century landscape, Blair Castle snippets, Blair Castle policies, visitor to Atholl, Atholl water mills and churches in Atholl. You can also find the Munro Society, which is where various members of the Society contribute material that reflects the activities or the Society and its members. The Public Records Office of Kinross-shire is wheelchair accessible, provides magnifying glasses to help you see the document better, and an induction loop. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult and it’s free to get in.
