This library has some records that can assist with research. These include local newspapers and photographs. There are also historical programs recreating historical events and times, as well as programs to teach patrons how to conduct family research.

This society was founded to assist people who were doing genealogical and family research in West Lothian. Some of the resources are available only to members of the society. Anyone can join the society, including people who do not live in the U.K.
Some benefits of becoming a society member include, receiving the three journal editions that are published yearly, access to portions of the website and forums that are unavailable to non-members, and access to the experience and expertise of other society members.
The personal acquisitions of the society are located in a room in the Local History Library. For a list of items held there, see above.
