Created in 1951, Flintshire’s Records Office is dedicated to assisting people successfully complete personal research endeavors such as family history searches, academic assignments, and writing projects.

In order to ensure a productive research process for all users, the Flintshire Records Office offers several services including one-on-one research consultations, personalized research conducted by professionals, reprographic services, photocopying, microprinting, and digital photography/scanning. Fees vary for each of these services.

Flintshire’s Records Office provides a variety of research guides to help users jumpstart their research and become familiar with using the resources available at the records office. By accessing the Flintshire Records Office webpage, researchers can obtain guides focusing on beginner research tips, source guides, and much more. All of the information is accessible online via user friendly PDF windows.

The Flintshire Records Office is committed to maintaining the integrity of the County’s archival legacy by collecting, recording, storing, and providing access to historically relevant records with significant emphasis on local interests and origin.

The archive contains noteworthy records of the County Council, local churches, schools, hospitals, families, estates, societies, organizations, businesses, and various other entities. The microfilm collection includes census returns, newspapers, parish registers, and a substantial amount of other information to accommodate your research needs. The Flintshire Records Office also possesses a massive collection of photographs, books, local histories, pamphlets, and periodicals.

In an effort to provide public access to information in the collection, The Flintshire Records Office operates a research room with staff available to assist users.
